On my last diet I did not last very long. I stopped after just a couple of weeks. After about 6 months of doing nothing, it is time to start over. I knew that I was overweight and way out of shape, but I did not pay much attention to the impact it could have on my over-all health. My wife has been after me for some time to get the weight of and get in some kind of exercise, But I kept putting it off and not really taking the need to improve my health very seriously. My last trip to the Dr. changed all that.
I went to see my Dr. and found that if I did not do something, I would be setting myself up for a very unpleasant future. My weight was at my highest ever. My blood pressure was high enough that she wanted to put me on a mild blood pressure medication. The worst of it was good news and bad news. The good news was that I did not have diabetes. The bad news was that the road I was on, I could have it with in 5 years. Not the most pleasant things to hear.
I decided that day that I need to do something. I am only 34 years old. I have a wife and 2 daughters that i love more than anything. If I want to see my grand kids and travel with my wife at retirement, I need to do something now, while I still can. I have procrastinated for a couple of weeks now, but today is the day to get things started.
I am not sure what to do about my diet. My wife is following a good diet that I may follow. But I have to start eating right and get in about 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week. I am also looking at doing a 100 push-up challenge with my wife. But I will explain that when I post my diet and exercise goals.

1 Week Down
Well, its been 1 week since I started my new diet. I got on the scale today and I was pleased to see that I have lost 12 ponds this week! To me that is a great start. I just hope that the weight keeps falling off as I want to lose at least 40 pounds before Vegas. If I can lose another 8 this week I will be half way there.
On another note, I have tried the Atkins bars and shakes. And while they wont win any taste awards, they make foe a nice diversion. Also my wife made these little cream cheese deserts, they are very good. They look like white fudge and taste kinda like cheese cake. Little things like that will help me stay the course.

Still going Strong!
I have not been on my new diet a week yet and I have lost 4 more pounds. That gives me a grand total of 9 pounds lost in 5 days! Not to bad, now if I could just lose that every week, but it has to slow down at some point. I am however anxious to see what my lost is for the first week, I am gunning for 10 - 12 pounds.
Dinner tonight was really good. My wife made this awesome chicken recipe. It was called garlic butter chicken. It was chicken cooked in a garlic butter sauce with a few bacon bits on top. I cant wait to try that again. On another note about food, I cant eat burger patties. I don't know if its the brand of beef, or just my taste buds. I talked to my wife about it and she had similar feelings, so next trip to the grocery store we will try a different brand/typ of ground beef.

Off to a Good Start
I have only been on my new diet for 2 days and was going to wait 1 week before my weigh-in, but my curiosity got the better of me. I got on the scale and was pleased to see that I had lost 5 lbs. I am sure that most if not all of it was water weight, but its still a nice start. I will weigh again at the one week mark and post my loss for the first week.

Getting Started
In about 7 weeks my wife and I are going to go to Los Vegas for a much needed vacation. I am looking forward to the trip as the past few months have been very stressful. But there is one small problem: I'm way to fat! I have a goal of getting back down to the weight that I was before moving to Missouri, but in the short term I want to lose as much as I can before the trip. So for the next 7 weeks, both my wife and I are doing low carb, that way we can help each other to stay on track. I am not going to post my weight or what I need to lose, but when I get down to goal weight I will post my starting point and current weight.
